Gearboxes
General gearbox specifications
The gearbox is the main mechanical component in the kinematic chain of agricultural machines. It is normally driven by the tractor power take-off via the PTO shaft and transmits motive power to the various other components of the machine. Torque can also be transmitted to the gearbox by hydraulic engines or belt pulleys, as well as by chain gears. Gearboxes always have an input shaft and at least one output shaft. If these shafts are positioned at right-angles to each other, the gearbox is an ORTHOGONAL SHAFTS gearbox (series L – series T – series V – series E – series S – series G – series MF – series O – reducers for cutter bars – square baler), more commonly called a right-angle drive.
If the shafts are parallel to each other, the gearbox is known as a PARALLEL SHAFTS gearbox (series P – series PE – series PA – series I).
Based on the gears and their number of teeth, our range of gearboxes includes:
- increasers and reducers: the gearboxes have gears with a different number of teeth. The gearbox is a reducer when the driving gear, i.e. the one with the input shaft, has the fewest teeth (pinion). It is called an increaser when the input shaft is mounted on the gear with the most teeth (crown wheel).
- right-angle drives, transfer cases or reverse drives: the gearboxes have gears with the same number of teeth. The gearbox is known as a right-angle drive when it has only 2 shafts (input and output). It is known as a transfer case when it has at least 2 output shafts. It is called a reverse drive and parallel offset gearbox in versions with parallel shafts with two gears.
- speed-change gear sets: in addition to the main pair of gears and relevant shafts, gearboxes may also have other gears with a different number of teeth. Meshing of the main pair of gears with the secondary ones enables different speeds to be obtained. Manual shifting from the secondary pair of gears to gears with a different number of teeth modifies the initial speed to a further extent.
To complete the range of gearboxes, we also propose COMPLETE TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS (series B – series RB – series R | RE-RX – series EV – series TE – inter-row harrow) designed for certain specific agricultural machinery applications.
Types of gearboxes
Main applications in agricultural machinery
We offer a broad range of components for agricultural machinery makers comprising gearboxes, PTO shafts as well as machine parts.
CMR Agriculture products stand out for their high quality and innovative content. Designed to encourage performance-improvement and industrialized production concepts, they represent an important point of reference for manufacturers of agricultural machinery.
The main applications include:
- machines for cutting grass, shrubs, fruit and olive tree branches, maize stalks and brushwood;
- machines for the different soil tilling phases after ploughing and for preparing the soil for sowing, such as hoes and harrows;
- machines for plant protection treatments and fertilizing;
- machines for all the hay-making phases: cutting, airing the hay, windrowing in preparation for harvesting, binding to protect against the weather;
- machines for harvesting olives and fruits gathered after dropping, such as chestnuts and hazelnuts;
- machines for felling and subsequently chopping wood;
- electric generating sets;
- machines for drying rice and maize.
